Glaucoma Laser Surgery & Management
Glaucoma is a progressive ocular disease that can result in painless vision loss and even blindness. There are several types of glaucoma but in all forms the fluid pressure in the eye is too high for the health of the optic nerve. This elevated pressure damages the optic nerve resulting in progressive vision loss. Our ophthalmologists are skilled at detecting and managing this condition. In most instances the elevated eye pressure can be effectively reduced with eye drops. In those instances where topical drops alone are inadequate, our surgeons are experienced in the latest laser and surgical techniques to safely reduce the eye pressure and preserve vision.

Diabetic Laser Surgery & Management
Diabetic retinopathy is retinal damage that occurs in long standing or poorly controlled diabetes. The retina is the light sensitive membrane lining the inner surface of the eye. The retina acts much as film in a camera. In diabetic retinopathy the blood vessels of the retina leak and bleed. This damages the retina and leads to loss of vision. Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in working-age Americans. People with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are at risk for this condition. Fortunately our ophthalmologists are able to use the Argon Laser to seal the leaking blood vessels. This process is called photocoagulation. In many cases this procedure can preserve and improve the vision in patients with diabetic retinopathy.

Laser Vision Correction/LASIK
LASIK is an advanced surgical procedure utilizing a precision excimer laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. During LASIK surgery our surgeons create a thin flap in the cornea. The corneal flap is folded back and the underlying cornea is sculpted with the excimer laser. This precise corneal sculpting eliminates or reduces the need for corrective lenses. The corneal flap is replaced to its original position providing the patient with quick, comfortable visual recovery.
